Bird Care Centre near Tirol Castle

In a wonderful landscaped setting and with integrated educational pathroutes, visitors can
learn about the fascinating life of birds of prey. The main aim of the centre is to nurse the
helpless and injured birds until they are again healthy, and then introduce them back into
the wild. If this is not possible the centre gives the animals a new home.

Burglehen park

In June 2002, Dorf Tirol - Tirolo celebrated the opening of the new "Burglehen park". The park,
surrounded by orchards and vineyards, offers a magnificent 360°view on the surrounding
area and invites you to relax and linger.

The planning efforts aimed at the concept of "unspoiled nature": the ancient meadow was
preserved and in the middle of the park a natural pond was formed offering an amazing
panoramic view on the surrounding valley- and mountain landscape.
For children, a beautiful playground is set within the Burglehen park. Besides a multitude of
slides, swings and climbing frames, the park offers a truly special attraction: the horse
"Jakob". The horse of steel was an invention of the famous South Tyrolean artist Franz
Messner and it is dedicated to all the children of this world. In particular, the combination of
objet d'art and playground toy makes "Jakob" a successful and unique eye-catcher at the
entry of the village.

TouriseumTouriseum - the Museum of Tourism

In the middle of the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, in the immediate vicinity of the town
Merano, the homonymous castle - the former winter residence of Austria's Empress Sissi -
houses the Museum of Tourism, the Touriseum.
The "Touriseum" is the first museum in the Alps totally dedicated to the history and present
of tourism. A collection of 7,000 items are displayed on two floors tell about 200 years of
South Tyrolean tourism history from two different points of view: of guests and of inhabitants.

The museum presents the historical development of tourism in South Tyrol in a stimulating
and entertaining manner. Vacationers and travellers will see themselves in the museum,
together with their motives for travel, behaviour, illusions and expectations. Again and again,
the sojourner will recognize his or her own feelings and behaviour.
